How much pressure can students handle, and how much can teachers take? Through the humorous format of a game show, Teatar Tirena's “Under Pressure” explores grades, expectations, stress and the everyday challenges of the school system.
How much pressure can students handle, and how much can teachers take?
“Under Pressure” takes the audience into an unusual game show in which student Marta and teacher Silvija face a series of challenges designed to determine which of them lives under greater pressure.
Marta deals with grades, academic performance, expectations, decisions about secondary school and university, and the fear of making the wrong choices. Silvija, on the other hand, faces the responsibilities of teaching, assessing students, meeting parents' expectations and dealing with her own fear of making mistakes.
As the game progresses, the two gradually begin to see the situation from each other's perspective. What begins as a competition develops into a story about understanding, empathy and the pressures that shape the everyday lives of young people and their teachers.
Through humour and familiar situations, the production explores school-related stress, expectations, mutual understanding and young people's mental health.
The production is intended for pupils in the final two years of primary school and for secondary-school students.
